So there’s this poster of the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme on the wall. Kiddo looks at it.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty together again.
Kiddo: Mom you know what comes after this part?
Me: no, what?
Kiddo: they all had a great breakfast.
Oh my goodness. Life took over and I got behind in posting our 29 faces. I’ll have to dig out my small journal and get the ones I put in there, and find where Kiddo put all of hers. In the meantime, I have a few more.
I know this one is from last month, but it is the first face I put in my art journal, and I am proud of it.
I like the blue hair on this one. Do you think I secretly want blue hair? Not if it means I’m old. LOL. I was trying to make the heart look cracked, but it didn’t come out the way I envisioned in my head. Some things just don’t.
With this last one, I decided to try a Teesha Moore-ish collage style. I had fun with this one and got all gluey. Sorry for the glare.
So this weekend we’re on a 6 hour trip to Lubbock for a chuckwagon competition. We passed large turbines they use to harness the power of the wind.
Me: look they’re farming air.
Hubster: air? Don’t you mean wind? Air can sit there and wind flows.
Me: those that are moving are being used for wind farming. The ones that aren’t moving are being used for air farming.
H: I see….
Me: hey, I thought that was a damn good explanation.
H nods and keeps driving.
Still going on the faces.
And here’s mine from my regular art journal as I didn’t do onion my small journal today.
Yay! Day 3 and we’re still going.
Here’s Kiddo’s Curious Girl. Made with watercolor pencils again. We’re going to pretty much be limited to watercolor pencils this weekend in our travel art kit.
And here’s mine. Acrylic background with watercolor pencils to color it. I’m not sure what I was going for here. Just trying out different styles.
We’ve made it to our second day of faces.
Here’s Kiddo’s done with watercolor pencils. It’s a sleeping girl.
And mine. Collage pieces and acrylic. The dress is made from a layout I created by putting the 29 Faces blog URL into wordle. I thought the shape looked like a dress. I added in the hair on both faces and colored the eye blue and the lips silver on the larger face.
So the kiddo and I have decided to participate in the 29 faces challenge. We’re still working on our art journals, but our journals are a bit big to take with us on our trip next weekend, so we made smaller journals to take along with watercolor pencils to be able to work on our faces.
Basically, we have to create 29 faces with human characteristics in our journals during the month of September.
Here is her first face. This one is not in her journal as it wasn’t ready when she drew it. (I am still having the picture posting sideways issue.)
Here is my first one. It’s my first time using only my watercolors.
